Firm Overview.  Bergkamp, Hemphill & McClure, P.C. is a general practice law firm in Adel, Iowa.  The firm’s largest practice area is real estate, but also has a significant business, litigation, family law and probate practice.  The firm was established in 2000 and is located in the historic train depot station along the bike trail.  The firm provides fast, friendly and reliable service to its clients.  The firm seeks to employ a Real Estate Legal Assistant and a General Practice Legal Assistant.

Position #1 –Real Estate Legal Assistant.

This position is a full-time position.  5 or more years of experience is REQUIRED.

The key responsibilities are:

  1. Preparing title commitments, title policies and title opinions.
  2. Preparing real estate documents such as deeds, purchase agreements and affidavits.
  3. Preparing closing statements.
  4. Recording real estate documents.
  5. Disbursing checks.
  6. Assisting others in the real estate department.

Qualifications:

  1. Friendly, positive and willing to work diligently.
  2. Great with numbers.
  3. Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
  4. Strong real estate background.
  5. Able to work well on a team.

Position #2 – General Practice Legal Assistant.

This position is a full-time position.  5 or more years of experience is REQUIRED.

The key responsibilities are:

  1. PROBATE experience.
  2. Preparation of real estate documents.
  3. Completing real estate closings.
  4. Filing court documents.
  5. Basic computer research.
  6. Phone reception duties on occasion.
  7. Bookkeeping duties (possibly).

Qualifications:

  1. Excellent attention to detail.
  2. Excellent typing skills and computer literacy.
  3. Solid understanding of court pleadings and filings.
  4. Professional demeanor and positive communicator.
  5. Works well with others.
