James L. Bergkamp, Jr. is a founding partner of Bergkamp, Hemphill and McClure. Jamie is in charge of the firm’s real estate division and also practices in business law. Jamie is a leading attorney in the State for the issuance of title policies through the Title Guaranty Division. He is also a frequent speaker on real estate topics for the Title Guaranty Division and the Iowa State Bar Association.
He grew up in Webster City, Iowa and is a graduate of Drake University in Des Moines, where he earned his Bachelor’s of Science in Business Administration in 1991. Jamie became a Certified Public Accountant in 1994 and earned his Doctor of Jurisprudence in 1995 from the University of Kansas. Jamie practiced in Denver, Colorado in 1995 and 1996 before returning to Iowa to practice law.
Jamie lives in Waukee, Iowa with his wife Sara, step-daughters, Miah and Lainey, and son, Joshua.
Jamie is a member of the Iowa Bar Association, real estate section. He is also a member of the Dallas County Bar Association, serving as its President from 2000 to 2001. Jamie has been a member of the Dallas County Compensation Board since 2001. Jamie helped create the Dallas County Local Housing Trust Fund, is currently a member of its Board, and served as Chairman in 2007.
Outside of work, Jamie enjoys time with his family, basketball, barbecuing, and mentoring kids.
